Neighbours films scene to acknowledge firefighters
Filmed as soon as cast & crew returned, this marks the first time Neighbours has reflected a real life emergency.

Well done to the Neighbours team for including a scene acknowledging firefighters and volunteers, with Sheila Canning (Colette Mann), David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) and Aaron Brennan (Matt Wilson) discussing the bushfires and a fundraiser auction.
It is the first time Neighbours has reflected a real life emergency in this way.
The scene was filmed on Monday when the cast and crew returned from their production break and dropped into Wednesday’s episode. It was written by writers last week as part of forward planning.
Channel 5 ran donation details at the end of the episode for UK viewers wanting to help. There was also no press release sent around the move to avoid the gesture being misinterpreted.

Absolutely.
Hi David,
The scene was dropped into Wednesdays episode, not Thursday’s.
Just a friendly heads up!
Cheers.
Well done Neighbours, especially with such a quick turnaround.
I thought that was fantastic when I saw it, well done to the writers and cast. Another reason Neighbours is leagues above other more publicised dramas and deserves more recognition than it currently receives.
