Back to the Rafters halts production

Industry sources tell TV Tonight that Packed to the Rafters reboot series Back to the Rafters has been forced to halt production during the sweeping COVID-19 shutdown.

Seven Studios is producing the series for Amazon Prime with returning cast Rebecca Gibney, Erik Thomson, Hugh Sheridan, Angus McLaren, Michael Caton and George Houvardas.

The shoot is another blow following the departure of Jessica Marais as Rachel Rafter -soon replaced by Georgina Haig.

The series by writer Bevan Lee  sees Dave &  Julie in the country with youngest daughter Ruby, while the older Rafter children face new challenges and Grandpa Ted struggles to find his place.

Star Rebecca Gibney this week indicated on social media she would be self-isolating upon her return to New Zealand to join family.

Updated: Amazon Prime has confirmed a production pause.
