Which shows should Gogglebox review?

Time to put some new shows on the Gogglebox radar...

A question without notice….

Gogglebox producers are known for reading TV Tonight, so now that we are in a new TV year I thought it might be fun to put some new shows on their radar.

But here’s one prerequisite… let’s avoid the obvious.

I’d like to hear some more obscure titles that producers should cast their gaze over. Think left of field. It could be on a multichannel, or at an odd time of day. Netflix and streaming shows are also valid (Don’t F*** with Cats for instance).

Make your case below! And detail what producers should be looking out for…

  1. Why don’t they review themselves to see how boring the show is. I will admit that even if this puts me to sleep I would rather that than MAFS or MKR anyday

  2. There’s an interesting sounding show on this Sunday on SBS called Cocaine: Living with the cartels. Basically 4 Brits travel to Columbia to discover how Cocaine gets to them.

  3. Not an obscure show but don’t think Gogglebox have ever done it before… they could review the new Today show LOL. Its a hot topic in TV land atm and I’m sure the cast would have some funny comments.

  4. Curb your enthusiasm (foxtel),
    The Circle (Netflix)
    Brooklyn 99 (SBS)
    The Witcher (Netflix)
Chicago Fire (Foxtel or 1 season behind late nights on 7)

  5. Make them watch that awful “Front Up” random vox pop show with Andrew Urban on SBS. I think the newest episode is almost 30 years old, and it hasn’t aged well. (Some would argue it was pretty bad even when it was new). Can’t believe they’re repeating it on weekend afternoons!

    1. >> Bit surprised they didn’t do Volcano Live this week. <<

David – I'll admit to being ignorant on the technical details; that said is a 5 day turnaround plausible for Gogglebox; and how much of what the viewers watch is viewed "live to air"?

      1. In previous interviews I’ve done with Gogglebox folk they explained the crews visit homes on different nights of the week. From memory Monday night is the last possible viewing before final edit. Almost nothing is Live to air. 10 will supply their own shows in advance and producers told me some time ago other networks will offer up shows for review in advance too.

  6. Maybe this could be an online extra…but just once I would love Gogglebox to review Gogglebox. As for serious suggestions though, how about;
    Judge Judy
You Can’t Ask That (when it returns)
    Compass
    The Drum
    Tipping Point
    Entertainment Tonight
The glass blowing show on Netflix
The Goop Lab – this one would be good for a laugh

  7. Black Comedy
    Compass
    Insight
    Dateline
    This Time with Alan Partridge
    Bull
    Hollywood Medium With Tyler Henry
    Endeavour
    Stateless
    A Very English Scandal
    Penn and Teller’s Fool Us
    Simon Reeve’s North America
    Revelation
    Foreign Correspondent

  8. I’d be curious to see how they’d react to one of the WWE shows that Fox8 show every week between RAW, Smackdown or NXT
Tipping Point on 9 in the arvos is pretty obscure but game shows always do good and lastly Bar Rescue is quite the entertaining little show on A&E

  9. Hunters on Amazon Prime & Encore! On Disney+. Encore stars Kristen Bell & a group of adults recreate their high school musical. It is kinda fun.

  10. If they’re looking for something more down the ‘fiction / fantasy’ path there’s always “Jones and Credlin”?

They could always review a previous episode of Gogglebox AU?

  11. I’m not sure if it’s obscure enough, but Better Call Saul. I’d also love Taskmaster, which is on Foxtel, very different to anything else on tv (season 7 was wonderful).

  12. I’d like to know what people think of these –
    Barnwood Builders
    9 Out of Ten Cats
    Think Tank
    Outback Truckers
    The Repair Shop
    Antiques Roadshow
    Letters and Numbers
    Escape to the Country
