Filming to resume on The Chase

Exclusive: Good news for Seven quiz show as host steps back before the cameras, with filming precautions in place.

EXCLUSIVE: Filming will resume on The Chase  for Seven -and host Andrew O’Keefe is back as quizmaster.

It’s good news for the Seven show which has been on an extended production break as O’Keefe addressed health issues. The industry shutdown due to COVID-19 has also added to that time, but the show now resumes with new filming measures.

A Seven spokesperson told TV Tonight, “The 2020 season of The Chase starts filming next week. Given the current environment in relation to COVID-19, there are a number of safety and hygiene measures that have been put into place together with ITV Studios to minimise risk for the cast, crew and contestants.

“These will be overseen by a dedicated coordinator whose job it is to ensure these are adhered to at all times.

“Measures include temperature checks on arrival followed daily briefings conducted by the COVID-19 coordinator; widespread instructional signage; implementation of personal distancing both on and off-camera including repositioning of host and contestants on-set, and personnel spread across multiple control rooms; rigorous catering practices (no shared food plates, individual food items etc) and expanded cleaning regimes.”

The Chase continues to lead its timeslot, winning every single day since at least the start of 2019 and beating Hot Seat by 14% on average in 2020.

Update: Sources advise filming will actually begin today.

  1. Social distancing easy enough for the cash builders and head to head but tricky for the final, especially pushbacks where they need to confer.

  2. Great episode tonight had contestant when asked what she would do with the money said “I would like to take my son to Disney world or some where similar next year 2019” wow went back to 2018 replays

  3. And what about the incredible, highly energetic studio audience who happen to be at exactly the same level and pitch each time, who we happen to never see… mmmmm I really hope they keep there distance… might need to change that applause dial I think with all the social distancing

      1. Yes complete border closure in WA, no incoming from any other state. Also regional travel bans within the state with road checks/closures at boundary changes. People travelling within the state for work purposes are exempt.

  4. The Turkish version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire now has only the host and contestant in the room (as well as a single household member in the audience). I suppose they could do the same with Hot Seat if they haven’t already.

    1. They could still use British chasers, it would just be a matter of pre recording it overseas and send it here. Of course they would send them the questions they would use that particular recording and use the British set for their chasers.
