Airdate: Cadel Evans Conquering Le Tour

With Tour de France postponed until August SBS has cycling fans covered.

With Tour de France postponed until August this year SBS will screen classic episodes and a new 4 part documentary Cadel Evans Conquering Le Tour.

There are a number of cycling specials and replays from late June.

Tour de France is planned to begin on August 29.

Airing Sundays at 4.30pm from June 28, Cadel Evans Conquering Le Tour will chronicle the journey of Aussie cyclist Cadel Evans, the former mountain-bike-turned-road-cyclist who went on to win the 2011 Tour de France.

The documentary looks back at Evans’ inspiring win, through the eyes of Australia’s most well-known cycling experts, including esteemed cycling journalist Michael Tomalaris, renowned commentator Matthew Keenan, former Giro d’Italia stage winner David McKenzie and former World Hour Record holder, Australian cyclist Dr. Bridie O’Donnell.

Each episode will feature retrospective interviews, in-depth insights, and new footage from Evans’ victorious journey. Cadel Evans Conquering Le Tour is filled with drama, excitement and passion, as it follows the boy from the Northern Territory who claimed one of sport’s greatest prizes and captivated the nation.

Every night from June 27 to July 17, SBS will air the Tour de France – Étape Classique – a series of the most memorable stages from the Tour de France. Robbie McEwen’s impossible Stage 1 victory in 2007 and Cadel Evans fighting to survive on the Galibier in 2011 are just some of the iconic stages that will feature in the new series.

For select stages of the tour, Michael Tomalaris will be live in the SBS studio with Robbie McEwen, Matthew Keenan, Dr. Bridie O’Donnell and David McKenzie to give their thoughts and analysis on each stage.

SBS will also air highlights from the 2016, 2017 and 2018 La Course by Le Tour de France on Sundays at 3.00pm from 5 July. The annual women’s professional road race is part of the UCI Women’s World Tour and is held in France.

Held over three weekends, the Tour de France Virtual project will be available through SBS VICELAND and SBS On Demand this July. Eight professional riders – four men and four women – will complete six stages of cycling from their home. Over two weekends from Saturday 4 July, the Tour de France Virtual Project stages will be available on SBS On Demand. The finals will be broadcast on SBS VICELAND on Saturday 18 July and Sunday 19 July.

The 2020 Tour de France is postponed until August 29 and you can catch it all live, free and in HD, exclusively on SBS.

SBS has been the home of the Tour de France for more than 30 years.
