Nine News has claimed a decade of wins in the Sydney market.
Nine’s win is based on weeks won for Monday – Friday bulletins, claiming 2020 yesterday morning. Of 380 ratings weeks, 9News Sydney has won 351.
In a note to staff news director Simon Hobbs said, “This score line makes it look like a blowout. But, nothing could be further from the truth. It’s been a dog fight each and every day. The only reason we have kept our heads in front is because of your hard work. Each of you play an important role. Your hard work, talent, and commitment to excellence is what’s made the difference.
“And those qualities have never been more evident than in 2020.
“While everyone else was enjoying a Christmas break, you stayed at work to cover the toughest bushfire season in our nation’s history. Long days turned into long nights, many of you worked long stretches without a proper break. It was exhausting.
“And just when you thought you might get a well earned break… Covid hit.”
Nine’s Sydney audience has lifted 5.59% this year, doubled its Facebook engagement from 8.2 million vs 3.9 million in 2019 and Twitter engagements are up 256%, from 88k to 313k.
