Narelda Jacobs will return to hosting a news bulletin in Perth, which she will present Live from Sydney starting tomorrow.
Jacobs was presenter based in Perth until she relocated to Sydney in December.
It what will be an unusual split-work day, she will be Studio 10 news presenter from 8am then return from the Perth 5pm news bulletin (7pm AEST, 8pm AEDT). However Perth export Charlotte Goodlet (pictured below) will also present on some days, with Jacobs undertaking a reduced work week pattern.
Josh Holt will present weather, initially from Brisbane before he relocates to Sydney.
There are also changes to Sport for WA viewers following the redundancy of Tim Gossage.
From tomorrow senior sports reporter Lachy Reid will temporarily read sport from Perth while the network sorts shifts and other logistics. It isn’t clear who adopts the role more permanently, presumably from Sydney.
News boss Ross Dagan has indicated these arrangements are being trialled for the next couple of months, to confirm 2021 plans before the end of the year.
He said of Narelda Jacobs, “This is a fantastic result for our WA team, given Narelda’s much loved history in Perth. Narelda will present the standalone local bulletin live. It will be produced in WA with our outstanding new gathering teams.”

That’s actually quite cool. The best result from the worst case scenario i guess. At least Narelda will have some genuine local knowledge behind the Perth stories she is presenting, to a degree.
This was an obvious solution from the day 10 announced these changes. Glad common sense has prevailed
One word. Bizarre
This is good News & altho i would rather a Locally Produced News service i really like Narelda. Already seen New promo’s for Perth’s Nine news stating they are locally made
Surely there are issues with someone being made redundant then the Monday after someone doing your job from the same location?
Is a complete mess – they might just about have got away with Brisbane and Adelaide but ditching Perth makes no logical sense.
It’s a different location. Coming from Sydney into Perth.
Sounds like ten are trying their best to provide some locally known presenters Into these cities A good move considering.
Yikes, this seems really messy.
This is one way to keep WA happy get a high profile WA person to present it even if it is from Sydney
kinda follows the working from home we’re used to except from across the country.
Good to see her back, but its clear that 10 haven’t planned that much in advance for their big move.
Obviously the major changes to 10 News weren’t foreseen at all back when Monika Kos was signed, Narelda even had a farewell didn’t she? How unfortunate, what a mess! I wonder if this was a Viacom-CBS ‘flash decision’ in recent months, looking at 10’s books, etc?
