Director Tim Burton has set his sights on an Addams Family reboot.
Deadline reports he is negotiating to executive produce and possibly direct all episodes of this new take on the franchise with Smallville developers / executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar as showrunners.
While not confirmed, sources suggest the new live-action series would be set in present times and be from the perspective of Wednesday Addams and what the world would look like to her in 2020.
The original TV series, based on cartoons by Charles Addams, ran for just 2 seasons from 1964, ahead of several feature films and a stage musical.
Burton’s hits include Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and Batman amongst others, with TV including Family Dog, Beetlejuice and The World of Stainboy.

I think, if anyone can do the Addams Family
Justice, it’s Tim Burton. I, for one will be watching
with all the rebooting of past tv shows not doing very well I hope Tim Burton has a good script.
Why do they have to try to reboot classic programmes like this. They just make it so woke to satisfy people nowadays. The last animated film was awful, just leave it alone.
it’s easier to reboot something an audience is already familiar with, than come up with something original, presumably.
Remakes never gain the magic ofnthe orginal. Possibly cause they tamper and tweak the characters that made it work. Sure modernise it but dont change it so much that its almost unrecognisable.
“Remakes never gain the magic ofnthe orginal.”
The movies did…
Yeah I really enjoyed The Addams Family and Addams Family Values, not so much Addams Family Reunion though, didn’t think that Daryl Hannah and Tim Curry matched up to Anjelica Huston and Raúl Juliá or for that matter Carolyn Jones and John Astin
Ugh… will be some sort of goth girl show. Give me the original every day
