Nine News has appointed WA’s Michael Genovese as US Correspondent, to replace Tim Arvier in early 2021.
A media graduate of the WA Academy of Performing Arts, Genovese had roles at the ABC and 10Â before joining Nine.
At Nine he has covered State Politics, reading the 6pm and local Today show news and hosting a radio show on 6PR.
Genovese marks the first foreign posting from Nine Perth. His role as Perth Correspondent for the Today show will now be rotated between reporters.
Meanwhile wife Jerrie Demasi will become Crime Editor for Nine Perth. She will take extended leave mid next year, and head over to LA where she’ll work for Nine in a freelance capacity and explore opportunities at US TV networks.

Tim Arvier should have won a Walkely this year for his reports on the riots. When other channels reporters were far from the action in car parks he was in the thick of the crowds reporting & interviewing participants without missing a beat.
David do you know where Tim is headed to? He should be bureau chief.
Tim will probably return back to reporting in Brisbane which is what he was doing prior to getting the US correspondent gig.
Interesting selection. Does anyone know when Amelia will return?
