Sport, election, Block and Bluey drive ratings week

Ratings: It was a big week of TV and it went Nine's way.

Last week saw a number of big drawcards on TV: two sporting events, the US election and a kids’ TV hit.

The State of Origin topped the week at 1.6m although a most unusual year resulted in it being well down on 2019’s 2.18m. Even still, it was enough to drive Nine to an easy win, together with The Block. Game II looms this week.

10’s Melbourne Cup race at 1.41m was up slightly on 2019’s 1.32m and also 10 Play’s biggest audience for a live stream ever. That almost makes up for The Bachelorette finishing with its lowest ever finale and one of two couple already split.

The US election drew bumper crowds to ABC News, which topped the week in multichannels -plus a first ever win for News Breakfast (across two channels). Elsewhere Bluey continues to shine at up to 379,000 viewers.

For Seven it wasn’t their strongest week, but it continues to lead with Seven News and Sunrise.

  1. Was somewhat concerned that Today Dhow had a US politician on this morning who claimed that there was mass voter fraud across the nation and that Donald Trump will be elected President. Karl and Sylvia did not dispute this information and agreed to it as fact. There was no such disclaimer that there was no factual evidence to support these claims, which the show presented to its audience for about 5 minutes.

Major stuff up from Nine Network
