Filming for MasterChef Australia 2021 has commenced in Melbourne, making it the third series in twelve months for new judges Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen.
“There’s some tremendous talent, and it sets us up for a brilliant year,” said Leong.
Andy Allen agreed the talent is outstanding once again.
“The Back to Win guys were amazing, and we’re not going to take anything away from them. But they’d kind of built their style and the way that they cooked. But these guys are bright eyed and bushy tailed.
“It’s going to be good to see them grow, on a personal level.”
Jock Zonfrillo also didn’t hold back.
“All I’m going to say is, I thought we had some beautiful humans last year. But 2021 is unbelievable.
“Two seasons of MasterChef with no COVID cases -a total of 8 months filming- says a lot about production and the crew.
Leong added, “We feel very grateful that we had the opportunity to continue, and in many ways we didn’t really stop. What a year!”

I think Andy Allen is the perfect 3rd judge. He gives the viewers and the contestants honest feedback about how is feels in the pressure situations. This perspective can only come from someone who has been in that exact spot. All 3 judges are excellent.
Smart decision – get it in the can now just in case we hit by another wave of the pandemic…. Others should be doing the same.
correct me if I am wrong but isn’t this the normal time when Masterchef films? COVID aside?
Yes around November.
I’m pretty they usually film Jan-March definitely did this year as it was mid Marsh the pandemic and lockdown hit and changed with it.
I’ve been on set in December. It may trail through to March.
I have to say that I find Andy Allen out of his league as a judge on this show ,nothing personal against the man but to me he just doesn’t suit the format.
