UK sitcom Friday Night Dinner looks to be at an end with producers revealing no more episodes are planned.
The series, which stars Tamsin Greig, Paul Ritter, Simon Bird, Tom Rosenthal and Mark Heap, has run for six seasons, with ABC Comedy having screened the apparent final season in October.
“I don’t think (Robert Popper, writer) wants to write a series where they bring their wives and children around,” Big Talk Productions CEO Kenton Allen has told Deadline.
“Never say never, but I suspect that’s probably it for the time being. You never know. For the time being, we’re not planning to make any more Friday Night Dinner.” Instead, Channel 4 has greenlit a 90-minute documentary reflecting on Friday Night Dinner’s success and marking its 10th anniversary this year.
A US version is still a possibility, after CBS and NBC both attempted adaptations.

A true golden find. The last episode ended the 6th series up in a satisfying way. Whilst it’s sad it’s over, at least it was well wrapped up.
If you haven’t seen it…”do yourself a favour”.
The first 5 series are on Stan. If you have not watched this it’s a sitcom hidden gem that grows on you as you become familiar with the characters.
Sad.
No US remake, that’s for sure.
I think it ended on a good episode and can’t see how it could continue.
