British actor Paul Ritter, best known for Friday Night Dinner and Vera, has died aged 54.
Ritter’s agent confirmed, “It is with great sadness we can confirm that Paul Ritter passed away last night.
“He died peacefully at home with his wife Polly and sons Frank and Noah by his side. He was 54 and had been suffering from a brain tumour.
“Paul was an exceptionally talented actor playing an enormous variety of roles on stage and screen with extraordinary skill. He was fiercely intelligent, kind and very funny. We will miss him greatly.”
Ritter played father Martin Goodman in Friday Night Dinner alongside Tamsin Greig, Simon Bird and Tom Rosenthal, which has run over six series since 2011.
He was also a regular on Vera and No Offence. Other credits include Chernobyl, The Trial of Christine Keeler, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Quantum of Solace.

Yes he was excellent in Chernobyl. He was also superb playing the role of Martin Goodman in FND. If you like a character driven British sitcom Friday Night Dinner is an absolute gem with the 1st 5 seasons on Stan. Paul delivered a highly memorable role. RIP
