Bill Woods returns in Ultimate Tag

Former 10 News presenter Bill Woods is back, as commentator in Seven's new Ultimate Tag series.

Former 10 News presenter Bill Woods makes his return to primetime television next month as part of Seven’s new Ultimate Tag series.

Woods finished at 10 in 2012 after 23 years with the network, but has made appearances on SportsFan Clubhouse and Shannons Legends of Motorsport both on 7mate.

On Ultimate Tag he is commentator, joining hosts Matt Shirvington & Abby Gelmi. “woodsy’ says he is impressed with the athleticism of the shows Pro Taggers and Players.

“The pros, while coming from a variety of backgrounds from parkour to stunts, needed broad capability to cope with all kinds of opponents. Some had skills which they used to spectacular effect – Eagle’s remarkable leg and wingspan, for example – but their all-round athleticism is a real feature of the series. They even look great standing still,” he said.

“What surprised me was the kind of athlete signing up to take them on. I expected a lot of gym junkies and fitness freaks, but there were so many high achievers from just about any sport you could think of, from the AFLW to the Olympics to dancing! Even those who didn’t have ‘elite’ chops were all-rounders who clearly could have made it in a chosen sport if they put their minds to it.”

Ultimate Tag starts soon on Seven.

  1. The promos for this just don’t grab me. It reminds me a bit of Gladiators. I think i’ll pass on it but good luck to them. You never know it could end up a surprise hit. Australian audiences are weird like that. I mean i remember all those years ago when Dancing With The Stars started and everyone was saying it won’t last and it became a massive hit. I know its a bit different but thats the thing with tv you just don’t know until you try i suppose.

  2. This show could go either way. I was originally sceptical about the repetitiveness of Ninja and it still rates. For Shirvo’s sake I hope it doesn’t tank like Holey Moley.

  3. What was the show that had contestants running along a track, trying to get past scantily dressed, beefy males and females – was it one of the obstacle courses on Gladiator?
