Sport an add-on plan for Stan

Stan's add-on Sport package for Rugby Union is $10 a month on top of current subscriptions.

Stan recently announced pricing for its new add-on Sport package in the lead up to the Super Rugby season kicking off.

The add-on Sport package will be available for $10 a month on top of current subscriptions ($10 – $19). Stan has exclusive rights to Rugby Union matches ad-free, live and on demand, while Nine will also screen Wallabies Test Matches played locally and in New Zealand.

A 30 day free trial will start when Stan Sport launches. Commentators are set to be announced shortly.

Stan CEO Mike Sneesby said:“As Rugby kicks off with Stan Sport, Stan will continue to deliver Australians the highest quality productions whilst maintaining great value for money. For the first time in Rugby’s history, fans can experience the game from its grassroots all the way to the international level, allowing a whole new generation of Australians to connect with the sport.”

The broadcast rights deal with Rugby Australia is believed to be worth $100 million over three years.

For the first time in the game’s history, the Super Rugby AU, Super Rugby Aotearoa and Trans-Tasman tournament will be shown live in fan-friendly timeslots, along with every kick, try and tackle of the Rugby Championship, Bledisloe Cup, Shute Shield, Hospital Cup, Currie Cup and New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship, plus Super W, Wallabies and Wallaroos test matches, SANZAAR Union home tests and more.

Stan’s add-on Sport package will bring live streaming to more devices than any other streaming service, including: selected Smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, Hisense, TCL, Panasonic and Android TVs; gaming consoles, including PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5, Xbox One, One S and One X; media players, including Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Fetch TV, Telstra TV and the Foxtel Now box; and via the web on Mac and Windows computers plus mobile devices, including iOS and Android.

Rugby fans can also relive the greatest moments of Australian Rugby, with access to an extensive library of classic Wallabies and Super Rugby matches on Stan.

  1. Aha, I was waiting for this.
$10.00 is reasonable, especially when other sports eventually get added to the mix, but I suspect Stan may increase their fees by then, add the $19.00 and it’s still cheaper than rugby fans using Kayo Premium, which I used to do.
I note Fox Sports still shows Autumn Nations Rugby on their bein sports channel so rugby isn’t completely dead for Fox Sports yet.

    1. The SMH printed a “rumour” that it was going to be $10, after extentsive market research, a couple of weeks ago. According to the orginal press-release RA insisted on a Saturday Night Super Rugby game live on Nine to boost it’s profile. With things like Wimbledon, Nine has bought exclusive rights to air it as they want, but have said that there will be selective coverage on Nine.
