Wallabies v England Test series in 4K

All three matches available to stream live in 4K UHD for the first time ever, on Stan Sport.

Stan Sport today announced that the upcoming Wallabies v England Test series will be the first ever domestic sport available to live stream in 4K UHD.

The three match series between the Wallabies and archrivals England kicks off on Saturday 2 July in Perth.

Coverage will be hosted by Nick McArdle with Tim Horan, Drew Mitchell, Morgan Turinui and Justin Harrison, Sonny Bill Williams and Andrew Mehrtens assisted by dual international Allana Ferguson.

Stan Director of Sport Ben Kimber said: “In a massive month of Rugby, we’re extremely pleased to be offering crystal clear 4K broadcasts for these Wallabies matches. Stan Sport continues to deliver for fans with more rugby in the one place than ever before. Fresh from enjoying stunning UHD pictures for the UEFA Champions League and Roland Garros, Stan Sport customers will once again be tuning in to the best sport streaming platform experience in the country.”

Rugby Australia Chief Executive Officer Andy Marinos said: “Rugby Australia is always looking for ways that we can innovate – and our partnership with Stan Sport and the Nine Entertainment Company is an example of that. We were the first sport in this country to combine free-to-air television and streaming as part of the same broadcast package. Stan Sport’s delivery of 4K UHD streaming coverage of the upcoming Wallabies tests is an example of the innovation that this partnership is yielding.”

For the first time ever, viewers watching the Wallabies v England series on Stan Sport can tune into two additional streams – Spider Cam and Player Cam. Before the start of each half, fans can vote on which player they would like to follow in Player Cam on the @stansportrugby social media channels.

Stan Sport recently launched a campaign fronted by Wallabies prop and all-around larrikin Taniela Tupou to support the England series. The tongue-in-cheek ad juxtaposes the brute force of the Wallabies against English sensibility with a mud-covered Tupou crashing an England supporters’ high tea party. The campaign reflects Stan Sport’s fun and light-hearted take on sport and entertainment, aiming to cut through the noise using humour and cheekiness, poking fun at sunburnt English fans.

Foxtel do stream in 4k via the IQ5 and new firmware on the IQ4. It no longer requires a Satellite connection and can connect via IP.
