“It’s all my fault!”: Kylie Gillies clears up Sam’s farewell lunch

Kylie Gillies has cleared up speculation around a Sunrise lunch farewell for Sam Armytage which supposedly snubbed several cast members.

Gillies today told Kyle & Jackie O it was a spontaneous event -and all her idea.

“It’s all my fault and it’s blown up into something which is nothing,” she said.

“I said to Sam, “What are you doing after work? You can’t go home and do the washing. Let’s go out and have (lunch)…… let’s have a champagne, you cant go home!”

“They had drinks at Sunrise with her, afterwards. While we were on air they all had some champagne in the office with Sam.

“Larry came. Larry had some important ‘Chase something’ to do… but he popped in,” she explained.

“That’s why I feel a little bit responsible.”

Media reports at the time suggested other cast including David Koch, Natalie Barr, Sam Mac and Edwina Bartholomew were not invited to the gathering, and speculated as to behind the scenes friction.

Now we can all get some sleep.
