iview: Sanditon, Dickensian, In the Club, Ordinary Lies

Plus: Back, The Durrells and Finding Alice.

A number of British titles will drop on iview on Thursday, several of which have been on Pay TV.

Sanditon (2019)
Sanditon adapted by Andrew Davies (War & Peace, Les Misérables, The Line of Beauty) from an unfinished manuscript by Jane Austen is an 8 part series starring Rose Williams, Kris Marshall, Anne Reid & Theo James.

Emmy and BAFTA-winning writer Andrew Davies brings Jane Austen’s unfinished last novel vividly to life. Sanditon’s a place that’s changing fast. This once sleepy fishing village is transforming into a fashionable spa resort. Changing alongside it is the impulsive and unconventional Charlotte Heywood, who swaps her quiet rural home for the intrigues and dalliances of a seaside town on the make. The plot twists and turns as it exposes the hidden agendas of characters whose fortunes depend on Sanditon’s commercial success. People such as the visionary entrepreneur Tom Parker, mixed-race heiress Miss Lambe, and charismatic but complicated Sidney Parker. Follow Charlotte’s journey to discover herself – and find love on her own terms.

Dickensian (2016)
A bold reinvention of Charles Dickens’ timeless novels, where his most iconic characters live side by side in the same Victorian neighbourhood.

The 20-part series, based on the books of Charles Dickens, brings together characters from books such as Oliver Twist, Bleak House and Great Expectations. Cast members include Tuppence Middleton, Stephen Rea, Peter Firth and Caroline Quentin.

In the Club (2014)
A drama series about a seemingly straightforward antenatal group who reveals secrets and lies bubbling beneath the surface that threaten each of the new families. In sharing the most intimate of experiences, they are shown how dreams can change in an instant and form a life-long bond and friendship.

Ordinary Lies (2015)
Set on the shopfloor and in the offices of a motor showroom, this warm, compelling, and often humorous series follows the stories of an ordinary group of colleagues and friends who, beneath the fun and banter, are struggling to deal with situations they’re hiding from those around them.

Back (Season 2)
Following their acclaimed first series, David Mitchell and Robert Webb return with a second series of Back. After a lengthy spell in the Lyneham Abbey Wellness Centre, Stephen is back at his provincial pub, refreshed and re-energised.

iview also drops The Durrells S1 on Thursday, which has previously screened on Seven plus Finding Alice, both of which will screen on Saturday nights.

The Durrells
A comedy drama series which centres around an English family in 1930’s. Louise relocates her reluctant brood to a dilapidated house in the Greek sun, the Durrells face a whole new set of challenges as they meet new friends, rivals, lovers – and animals.

Finding Alice
A comedy drama series which follows Alice’s partner Harry who dies after falling down the stairs when they move into their newly finished dream house. Harry’s sudden death kicks up a storm of secrets, debt and suspicion which Alice is forced to confront.
