Airdate: Bloodlands

James Nesbitt stars in a new crime drama from producer Jed Mercurio on SBS.

New Irish crime series Bloodlands, starring James Nesbitt, premieres next week on SBS.

The 4 part series is produced by Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty, Bodyguard) and centres around old links to the IRA.

This debuted internationally in February.

When an expensive car is pulled from the sea, veteran Northern Ireland police detective Tom Brannick (James Nesbitt – The Missing, Cold Feet) instantly sees the connection to an infamous cold case that holds enormous personal significance for him – a notorious and long-buried series of mysterious disappearances. Bloodlands follows Tom Brannick’s obsessive campaign to identify and unmask the semi-mythical figure behind these events – a figure code-named Goliath, after the giant shipyard cranes, Samson and Goliath that dominate the Belfast skyline. It’s a case that comes from Tom’s – and his country’s – dark past.

Series One, Episode One:
A car is pulled from Strangford Lough, the owner kidnapped. DCI Tom Brannick recognises the calling card of a legendary assassin known as Goliath. The legend goes that he was a serving police officer who vanished without trace 20 years ago, and among his original victims was Tom’s wife.

Wednesday, 26 May at 9.40pm on SBS.
