Nine has had a winning night with the return of Australian Ninja Warrior.
The show returned to 795,000 metro viewers, easily winning its slot. While that’s lower than last year’s 1.04m premiere, that was also during a pandemic lockdown.
Spotlight was next at 627,000, then MasterChef Australia (617,000 from 7:30pm) and Spicks & Specks (554,000 from 7:40pm). Demos were also a little more evenly spread across top shows.
A later 60 Minutes led at 451,000, just ahead of Jack Irish (438,000), both down on last Sunday.
Nine network won Sunday with 31.4% then Seven 26.0%, 10 20.1%, ABC 15.4% and SBS 7.2%.
Nine News was #1 at 1.06m for Nine with a late edition at 224,000.
Seven News was best for Seven at 1.05m. Movie: The Accountant was 318,000.
The Sunday Project drew 451,000 / 283,000 for 10. 10 News First was 311,000 / 218,000. FBI managed 265,000 / 175,000.
ABC News was 689,000 for ABC. Compass was 228,000 and Movie: Hunger was just 95,000.

With people hungry for local case updates, ABC News led multichannels at 150,000.

I watched 2nd half of ninja last night on 9now, while I typed up some articles on the computer. Instead of having 5 steps, they changed it to shrinking steps for the introduction to the course.
At the end, the promo came up for Monday’s Ninja Warrior with Kyrgios commentating. I think i need to mute tv and commentate myself.
I hope to see more of Spicks and Specks, but cut the show back to 30 minutes tight.
Too much waffle.
Please ABC renew Spicks and Specks. That show brings me so much joy.
Watching Ninja Warrior, I don’t know how some make it look so easy. Even Olivia Vivien came a cropper showing its no mean feat.
Props to the producers for freshening up the course.
