Melissa Doyle is confirmed to narrate an upcoming Nine observational series, Australia Behind Bars.
Filming by ITV Studios Australia has already wrapped after being shot in three prisons across NSW before lockdown.
“The program is produced by an independent company and yes Melissa Doyle is the host on it — she is not joining 9 as a full time employee,” a Nine spokesperson told the Daily Telegraph.
Earlier this year Nine Program Director, Hamish Turner told TV Tonight, “Think of it ‘the real life Wentworth‘ -there is a female prison in it- going behind the scenes of what actually happens in these prisons.”
Britain Behind Bars was also produced for British broadcaster ITV in 2019.

This sounds great. My favourite Aunt is a senior corrections officer, with a strong belief in rehabilitation and from talking to her I’ve become quite interested in the subject.
Now this is exciting!!
I’m eagerly awaiting for this. As someone who wishes to become a correctional officer in a couple of years, this is perfect to see what real life prisons are like, instead of what is presented from a dramatized perspective
With Mel involved, include me in.
Finally a different genre of observational rather then medical observationals all the time
