Nine’s other Beach House renovation…

"Beach House Escape is set in an idyllic seaside town where an old home right on the beachfront is ready for a complete makeover"

There’s been a lot of speculation about whether The Block is coming to Byron Bay….

So far it is yet to confirm if that’s happening or not.

But Nine also has another beach house renovation show in the pipeline.

At last year’s Upfronts it announced Beach House Escape for 2021.

With 2020 upending the way we live, Beach House Escape will help people to realise their lifelong dream of escaping the city.

Beach House Escape is set in an idyllic seaside town where an old home right on the beachfront is ready for a complete makeover to turn it into Australia’s best beach house.

Ten talented individuals who’ve always romanticised about a better life will compete to fulfil this dream.

Nine has gone very quiet on this show, which was due to be internally produced.

So are Byron Bay reports of Nine interest correct in attributing this to The Block missing this small detail? Who knows…

Moving The Block is not easy given the production staff and families are almost entirely based in Melbourne and border restrictions could make life very difficult.

In 2015 producer Julian Cress did acknowledge, “It would be wonderful to take The Block out of the city and do a beach-house version of the show.” But that was when Mornington Peninsula properties were on the cards…

Beach House Escape, should it ever occur, is an extreme long shot to make it into the 2021 TV year given we are now in August.

But it could still be on the cards if Nine pushes it out to 2022.
