Cory Bernardi takes legal action over ABC doco

Cory Bernardi seeks $400,000 in damages over claims made during Annabel Crabb doco Ms. Represented.

Former Senator Cory Bernardi has launched legal action against the ABC after claims broadcast during Annabel Crabb’s Ms. Represented.

This week ABC apologised for neglecting to put comments made by Senator Sarah Hanson-Young to him before being broadcast.

The Australian reports the SKY News presenter is now suing the public broadcaster for $400,000 in damages and ordered they remove the episode from iview as well as all promotional material and pay his legal costs.

Bernardi has denied claims he whispered nursery rhymes and inappropriate personal remarks to Hanson-Young and that he may have been inebriated.

“I tried to use the ABCs complaints process to affect an appropriate outcome but unfortunately the inadequate response left me no option but to redress this matter through the legal system,” he said.

ABC has apologised to Cory Bernardi for a breach of its Editorial Policy and added his denial of the allegations to the program.
