Renewed: Star Trek: Picard

Plus first look at Season 2 trailer.

Star Trek: Picard, starring Patrick Stewart, has been formally renewed for a third season.

The Hollywood Reporter notes, Picard was technically renewed for its third season in January 2020 as part of a two-season pickup for the series.

The plan at the time, which remains true today, is for production to film back-to-back on seasons two and three to control costs and accommodate production schedules. A writers’ room for season three has been up and running for more than a year.

The series also features Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Jeri Ryan, Orla Brady, John de Lancie, and Brent Spiner.

A Season 2 trailer, with a first look of the Borg Queen portrayed by Annie Wersching, has also been released.

It is due to return in February on Amazon Prime Video in Australia.

A Trek panel featured a conversation with Patrick Stewart and Jeri Ryan, co-showrunner and executive producer Akiva Goldsman, moderated by host Wil Wheaton, is available here.

  1. These newest series should be called “Startrek: Alternate Universe” . because that’s what these feel like to the Startrek fan, not that i am one. But i do understand thee complaints.

  2. I cant find the trailer here but based on what I have read Monsier Picard may become a support act to Seven Of Nine and the Borg. Interestingly, another spin off ‘Star Trek Strange New Worlds’ is going to get back the fans who have left the Star Trek franchise after the perceived break from Star Trek’s historical legacy seen in ‘Star Trek Discovery’, they want a hero like Captain Pike back at the helm to keep more to Gene Roddenberry’s original vision for the show where the series was episodic and the heroes won the day, this wasn’t possible with Star Trek: Picard because Patrick Stewart didn’t want to reprise his role from ‘StarTrek: The Next Generation’.
