John Simm stars as a troubled Brighton-based detective in a new UK crime drama.

2021 UK crime drama Grace, starring John Simm, begins this Sunday on Seven.

Based on the bestselling Roy Grace novels by Peter James, Simm stars as a troubled Brighton-based detective, whose missing wife casts a shadow over his already turbulent career.

It also features Richie Campbell & Rakie Ayola. This is a two parter, but it has been renewed for more.

Detective Superintendent Roy Grace is approached by colleague Detective Sergeant Glenn Branson to help investigate the disappearance of a Brighton property developer who has vanished without a trace on his stag night.

Detective Superintendent Roy Grace is a dedicated police officer who has given many years of his life to the job, however lately his career is on the rocks and his personal life is not faring much better. Haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his wife Sandy, six years ago, he has never found answers as to her whereabouts. Now, his reputation has been thrown into question as a result of his occasionally unorthodox approach to policing and Grace finds himself the subject of local headlines. He is warned by his superiors that he is in the last chance saloon. If he isn’t careful, his job will be in serious jeopardy.

8:30pm Sunday on Seven.

  1. This was so good. John Simm was excellent in the role. It seems ages since someone managed to make a really good detective series like this. Made me miss the first series of DCI Banks. It’s a pity about the ad breaks, but I do appreciate all the quality British drama 7 are screening.

  2. A return to the Police show genre for John Simm but he does do the intense angst ridden characters well, I’m sure most keen Police drama viewers will remember his role as DCI Sam Tyler in the successful 2009 BBC supernatural series ‘Life on Mars’.
