Dawn French rules out French & Saunders revival

“I’m done with that. Done with the double act part of it – not done with her."

Dawn French has confirmed she isn’t keen for any more of sketch show French & Saunders even though Jennifer Saunders is still “trying to persuade me to do some more”.

“We were on tour in Auckland in New Zealand, and we knew we wouldn’t be touring our double act again. I mean, you know, here I am saying that and that was lots of years ago,” French said in a YouTube interview.

She added: “I’m done with that. Done with the double act part of it – not done with her. There’s lots of things I’d love to do with her, but doing sketches on telly, I think we’ve had our moment with it.”

But she is keen to work on new projects with Saunders, including their podcast, “Titting About.”

French & Saunders ran from 1987 for six full series, in addition to Christmas specials, compilation episodes and retrospectives.

  1. Dawn French as Bjork, and Jennifer Saunders as Marlene Dietrich gave me two of the biggest laughs I ever had in my life, so brilliantly silly. Also the post-credit “Generation Gap” sequence with Helen Mirren and Julia Sawalha: “she’s got a career playing daughters, actually!!”. Just wonderful.
