Big budget US series filmed in Victoria gets a second season approval.

US disaster / fantasy La Brea has been renewed for a second season.

Filmed in Victoria, the series begins when a massive sinkhole opens up in the middle of Los Angeles, swallowing cars and buildings and separating the Harris family between two worlds.

The cast includes Natalie Zea, Eoin Macken, Jack Martin, Zyra Gorecki, Jon Seda, Chiké Okonkwo, Karina Logue, Veronica St. Clair, Rohan Mirchandaney, Nicholas Gonzalez, Lily Santiago, Chloe De Los Santos and Josh McKenzie.

With Live+7 day delayed viewing, the series is averaging 7.93 million viewers.

It’s not clear if the show will return to Australian shores to shoot a second season.

It is set to screen in Australia on 9Now.

That’s a good point about whether season 2 will be made in Victoria, but it could depend on COVID restrictions and whether it proves economical or not to keep the production in Australia, so those government tax breaks will be a major factor. La Brea as far as I can see is a standard formulaic US studio melodrama dressed up in sci-fi clothing, NBC will be earmarking this show for at east a four or five season run unless it has a disastrous ratings slump, US audiences like these time filler shows it seems.

  2. I know it has received heavy criticism online but to me it’s a “so bad it’s good” kind of show. It’s certainly no “Lost” with complex characters and great writing but it’s fun and the plot keeps moving. Not sure how long it can last however. These shows trend to crash and burn without a final resolution.

  3. First episode premiered September 28th and the final November 23rd so we’ll be basically 3-4 months behind ,so until Australian FTA networks move into the 21st century I won’t waste my time ,I’ll go watch 1974s Earthquake instead 😁.
