Festive movers & shakers

The shows enjoying the biggest lifts over the festive period are not the ones you'd expect.

We’ve all  been catching up with shows over the festive period, mostly on Streaming platforms (I’ll personally recommend Spanish series Veneno on iview, you can thank me later).

But the shows that have been getting the biggest lifts in Consolidated viewing in the past 4 weeks are not the ones you’d expect.

ABC Kids title Kangaroo Beach leads the pack, seeing a 217% lift in 7 days. A second screening on New Year’s Day saw another lift of 153%.

The Kangaroo Beach Summer Special follows the adventures of four young animal friends, Pounce, Gemma, Neville and Frizzy, as they spend an action-packed summer at a spectacular beach, training as junior cadets with their lifeguard heroes. Bondi Beach chief lifeguard Bruce ‘Hoppo’ Hopkins (Bondi Rescue) and Ironman world champion Craig ‘Riddo’ Riddington provided essential water safety advice for the special, while Celeste Barber voices a wombat.

It was well ahead of the next show with the biggest lift UK drama The War of the Worlds at 61%.

ABC and 10 titles are prominent, but SBS also makes a showing, while a favourite movie did well for Nine. Over the same period Seven has been dominated by Cricket, which draws Live rather than Timeshifted audiences.

Here are the top risers in Consolidated viewing according to VOZ numbers in the past 4 weeks.

Numbers indicate their linear Overnight metro figure > Total TV number including Regional + Broadcast Video on Demand.
