Jim Courier, Leila McKinnon to host Australian Ninja Warrior

Radio duo Will & Woody also in the mix for S6 of Nine reality contest.

Nine has announced former tennis champion Jim Courier and journalist Leila McKinnon as the new hosts of Australian Ninja Warrior.

KIIS FM Drive hosts Will & Woody will be sideline reporters for Ninja reactions.

The names follow the departure of Ben Fordham who is focussing on radio commitments and Rebecca Maddern who recently signed with Seven. Shane Crawford has also departed Nine.

Production for Season 6 begins in February at a totally refreshed obstacle course at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney’s Olympic Park.

“Like Grand Slam tennis, Australian Ninja Warrior is an amazing test of athleticism and tenacity. I’ve always loved Ninja, so I’m thrilled to be on board to witness this year’s Ninjas test their physical and mental limits,” Courier said.

Leila McKinnon said: “I have been a huge fan from the start so it will be a privilege now to be front and centre with these athletes to see what they can achieve when put to the test. This year the Ninjas will go further, faster and higher on a supercharged new obstacle course.”

Will & Woody added: “We’ve spent the last two months working so hard to get in shape and are just finding out now that we’re not actually doing the course.

“We are incredibly excited to be joining one of our favourite shows, Australian Ninja Warrior, and we can’t wait to see what the contestants bring to the course”.

Produced by Endemol Shine Australia, the season will screen in coming months.

Audience tickets are available from nine.com.au/NinjaWarrior from 10.00am Tuesday, February 1.

  1. Seriously? I can’t believe this mindless rubbish is back for another season. And haven’t we suffered enough of Jim Courier’s grating voice already in 2022? Go home, mate. Your keep-it-safe brand of commentary is nauseating. Even Nick Kyrgios would be a better choice…..and I can’t stand the sight of him.

  2. I am wondering if this is the main reason for Shane Crawford leaving 9? Beats me why they need an American to host it? Nothing personal against Jim. Hamish would be fun I think.

  3. Interesting, no disrespect to Jim, but did we have know Aussie talent to host?
Abd I’ve never heard of Woody and Willy, but hope they appeal to those over 30?

  4. Who saw this coming..especially Jim Courier? If it was april 1,i could see David behind this…lol.Wonder if this is Courier’s first foray into the non tennis tv arena?I like him, and Leila too,for that matter..and I like this show,so will be watching to see how this turns out.Don’t wanna get into a big 9 v 7 thing..but at least 9 takes a few chances..7’s strategy of late seems to be picking up 9 discards.
