Euphoria ‘most-tweeted’ show of the decade

More than 30 million tweets sent by fans for S2 of US drama.

Euphoria has become the most tweeted show of the decade according to the social media platform.

That’s some feat given phenomenons such as Succession, Squid Game, Tiger King, Schitt’s Creek and more…

More than 30 million tweets related to the show during the second season have been sent, up 51% compared with season 1.

The most-tweeted about characters this season are Fezco (Angus Cloud); Rue Bennett (Zendaya); and Nate Jacobs (Aussie Jacob Elordi).

According to Twitter, there have been about 270,000 tweets about #FexiHive, the fan-fave slow-burn endgame couple, Lexi and Fezco.

The season finale airs on Monday in Australia on FOX Showcase / Binge.

  1. 80% of tweets are bots, responding to other tweets. We know from a study that the majority of people who post about cool netflix and HBO shows like GOT, that the majority of people who tweet about them don’t watch them. We do however have accurate ratings for Euphoria in the US and Australia from cable and streaming ratings. S1 rated about 1m. The season 2 premiere rated 2.4m in total viewers in the US. In Cable viewing S1 averaged about 550k, S2 about 300k in the US. In Australia last week’s episode rated <25k in the Overnights, and 92k streamed +7. S2 had top quality acting and cinematography like most HBO shows, but the writing was pretentious, shit and went nowhere. It's not even original, it's based on an Israeli show that owes a lot to Kids and Skins.

  2. Euphoria is not an easy watch. It’s certainly not my usual genre, but it is perhaps one of the very best TV shows I have watched.
Sam Levinson as writer, director and creator does a great job pulling it off. Much of the acting is of award winning level.
