‘Bender’ voice returning for Futurama

The Futurama revival is now complete...

Good news everybody.

US voice actor John DiMaggio is returning to the role of Bender for the revival of Futurama, coming to Disney+ in Australia.

DiMaggio had previously voiced (!) his displeasure at the offer to cast and was not included in cast announcements. That led to a fan campaign on social media, dubbed #Bendergate.

“I’M BACK, BABY! So damn grateful for the love and support of fans and colleagues alike during this whole time (especially my wife, Kate), and I cannot wait to get back to work with my ‘Futurama’ family,” DiMaggio said in a statement. “#Bendergate is officially over, so put it on the back of a shelf behind Xmas decorations, or maybe in that kitchen drawer with all of the other crap you put in there like old unusable crazy glue, or maybe even put it in a jar you save farts in. Whatever floats your boat, I don’t care, you get the picture. I’M BACK, BABY! BITE MY SHINY METAL ASS!”

He joins returning cast Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman.

But of course.

  1. I knew that John DiMaggio would be back. I could be wrong but I was sure when it was first announced that this was just a publicity stunt to get people talking about the revival. Either way I don’t care I’m just happy Futurama is finally returning. The Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad have all gone downhill over the last few years but apart from a couple of episodes I have loved almost every second of Futurama whenever it was on. I do have pretty high hopes for the revival. Being off air for 10 years they should have some good ideas for episodes.

  2. Good News Everyone! Anyway its a shame this will not be on FTA. I know the quality of t he simpsons has gone way downhill and i just cant get excited anymore about new eps. So no big loss there. So am hapy with old episodes, but Futurama is a different matter. Hopefully a deal can be worked out.
