Women make news at NBN

A history making moment for Newcastle broadcaster.

NBN News in Newcastle reached a milestone moment last night when it had three female presenters.

“Tonight for the FIRST time in @nbnnews’ 60-year history, women presented news, sport AND weather,” Chief of Staff Olivia Grace-Curran wrote on Twitter.

“But it doesn’t stop there.. The executive producer, regional producer, line-up producer and pilot = female. And every reporter on today across the Network, also female #YTG”

  1. @jont56820 You’d only have to travel halfway (to the Central Coast) to be able to watch it 😉
Shame Nine don’t put the bulletins on 9Now though. 7 only had the keys to Prime about a month before starting to put their bulletins on 7plus. VAST is another option but the quality is worse than SD.
@Jason Not sure how much luck you’d have receiving NBN from the Northern Beaches. The Newcastle services transmitting from there (currently only NBN and Prime) are at a lower height and severely restricted power towards the south compared to the rest.

  2. Prime 7 do this all the time they have all female team, and before elly wicks left there were 2 dual newsreading female presenters, a female sports and female weather. I wish nbn was available closer to Sydney but you have to travel to Newcastle to watch it

    1. Look, not a white jacket to be seen. Imagine the howling if this were three males. NBN3 is available on the northern Sydney beaches – Palm Beach, Newport etc. – which can’t receive Sydney very well. The Bouddi tx site just across Broken Bay serving the southern Central Coast area and the northern beaches area of Sydney. These are vertically polarised as opposed to Sydney and Newcastle which are horizontal. Can’t comment on Prime 7 as we are in the Illawarra area just south of Sydney and no longer get a local news service from Prime7. Only WIN.
