Alan Fletcher reveals alopecia to fans

“I know a lot of you are going to be pretty shocked, but I have no problem with it," says Neighbours star in a video to fans.

Veteran Neighbours star Alan Fletcher has unveiled a new look to fans on social media, revealing he has a hair loss disorder, alopecia areata.

British fans have already seen Dr. Karl without hair, but Fletcher assured them he is fighting fit and happy.

“A lot of fans have expressed a little concern about my health on the internet, and there have been some media inquiries as well, so I just want to put something to rest. I am absolutely fine. I’m fit and well working on Neighbours and having a great time,” he said.

“But, I can report to you, I do have a disorder called alopecia areata.”

“I know a lot of you are going to be pretty shocked, but I have no problem with it. In fact, it’s kind of fun,” he explained.

He also spoke about the difficulties for younger people dealing with hair loss. Good stuff, Alan.

Fletcher also held up the last ever Neighbours script.

“I know a lot of you are gutted that Neighbours is ending, but I can promise you the end is going to be sensational,” he said.

The show has also teased a character death and possibly more names (or red herrings) to return….

  1. Maxxdude- I have to disagree I think these storylines have been quite good and one of the cast that have left recently said that some needed to leave (when their contract ended) in order for the show to wrap up naturally (but yes, also for these cameos). However we don’t know how long these cameos will be for I feel a like might just be one or two scenes(?). I have a feeling paul is going to die and a fair few come back for this. But that’s just my own theory.

Thanks David for sharing – I did wonder why Alan had been in hats in all his scenes and cast photo. Lovely of him to share on such a positive way. Well done Fletch!

  2. Wishing Alan all the best. The last few weeks/months I feel the writers have given up. Terrible character after terrible character at the same time ruining long running characters. Also, only 1 new (upped from recurring) male character character introduced and more male characters leaving. I worry that the show is just going to be a series of cameos from returning characters for the rest of it’s run.
