It's 20 years since Kath & Kim premiered as an ABC series, soon hitting the talk show circuit with Micallef Tonight.

May 16 2022 marks 20 years since Kath & Kim premiered as an ABC series (having previously been a sketch on Big Girl’s Blouse) directed by the great Ted Emery.
While I can’t find a short clip of that first episode “Sex” (available in full here or at Netflix), I’ve decided to bring you an interview from Micallef Tonight in 2003.
And for those who have forgotten, Kath & Kim was originally rejected by the ABC Comedy department -but picked up by ABC drama.

Put them in the Logies hall of fame. Icons!!
I do remember Micallef Tonight and while The Micallef Program resonated with the ABC audiences, the comedic stylings replicated in Micallef Tonight were too avant-garde or weird for the Nine audiences. It was no Hey Hey It’s Saturday.
Hopefully they might reprise their roles for the Logies at least – if they don’t want to do a whole series! That would be a good get
and i forgot to ask, any truth to the rumours of a reboot even though the house has been knocked down?

Strangely, yes. It even won the “Best Drama” at the 2002 AFI (now AACTA) Awards. It was then nominated for “Best Comedy Series” the following several seasons though.
