Neighbours dynasty returning to Erinsborough

Peter O’Brien, Daniel MacPherson, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Mark Little amongst returning cast for final weeks.

Following the confirmation that Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan are returning to Neighbours for its finale, producers have revealed a cavalcade of returning stars.

Executive Producer, Jason Herbison, said: “Whether the eighties, nineties, naughties or teens is your favourite decade, we will be delivering something for everyone as Neighbours draws to a close. Alongside the current cast we will be celebrating the most memorable characters from across many eras, with a few surprises up our sleeve.”

Ian Smith (Harold Bishop), said: “It’s an absolute pleasure to be back. I’m the biggest sook under the sun. I’m going to be shocking on the last night that Neighbours airs. It really will be an end of an era and I am so proud to have been a part of it.”

Daniel MacPherson (Joel Samuels), said: “Joining Neighbours at age 17, little did I know, was going to kick start a career that continues to be the adventure of a lifetime. To go back and play Joel one more time, was a small way to show my enormous gratitude to cast, crew and fans of the show.”

Filming has commenced for the final month-long on-air celebration of this iconic series, with the final episode to air on Monday, August 1 on 10 Peach and 10 Play.

  1. Is it just me that’s more excited for Elle and Andrew to return than Charlene and Scott. Admittedly it’s because i wasn’t old enough to follow neighbours until the late 90’s. Also looking forward to seeing Chris, Izzy, Harold, Angie and Amy!

    1. Yeah I am more interested in seeing them! I kind of know what Kylie and Jason are doing these days, yet I wonder what Pippa Black (Elle) is up to! Wish we’d see her in more of anything.

It is good that Andrew (Jordan Patrick Smith) is coming back as well though, as I have been seeing him in a few overseas productions so good that he was able to find time for this as well again.

      1. Yes pretty huge star power having Jordan back. The guy was in the epic show Vikings. So it’s an honour for us all to have him and many others back. can’t wait.

  2. I was an extra on set when Dan McPhereson was just brand new. He hadn’t even aired yet. He was a lovely guy from the start. Very friendly to us lowly extras.

  3. To be fair Delta came back for the 30th anniversary. I think her story was nicely tied up there. Then again so was Olympia Valance as Page, in the more recent 35th anniversary. She finally got together with Mark Brennan.

  4. Some good returning cast members there.

Do 10 have a phobia in advertising that Neighbours is still on air at 6.30pm on 10 Peach? There’s still 3 months to go until the show sadly departs from our screens for good. They seem to only advertise reality shows and not much else…

  5. I don’t mean to keep banging on about this….but I will. 10 need to screen this 6pm on their main channel. 10 News First doesn’t need 90 mins. Neighbours would improve the 6pm period, I’m sure they couldn’t do worse. Advertise it like nobody’s business. Neighbours put 10 on the map and they owe it to the series.

    1. A bit late to bother now and considering there have been plenty of opportunities over the last decade to use it to fill a hole in the early evening schedule there is clearly not the will to do so. Wouldn’t be surprised if moving it back to Ten came with the condition they up their investment in it.

    1. It sounds like a no brainer to have it on the main channel, doesn’t it? given that channel 5 in the UK fund the bulk of the production, one does wonder if there are restrictions on where 10 – as the minor funding partner – can show the series?

  6. Some good names but a few which I think would of been better than four of the cast who have just left within last few months-

Lou, Libby, Steph, Lyn, Camilla, a Timmins.. just to name a few. Delta(Nina) could of been a somewhat easy get too.

It will be interesting to see how all these returns are written in? I’m guessing one big wedding or one big death.. paul Robinson?… a lot of his kids are coming back..

      1. Definitely understand that, but I’d rather bring back some of those i mentioned instead of the likes of Ned, Kyle, Roxie, for example who have only just left within the past week!

    1. Kym Valentine had a lawsuit with Neighbours a few years back, so I doubt she’d want to go back.

And Carla Bonner didn’t leave on the best of terms, either, from what I understood.
