Mel B returns as Masked Singer panelist

Mel B, Chrissie Swan and Abbie Chatfield to spice up Masked Singer's fourth season.

Former Spice Girl and X Factor judge Melanie Brown (aka Mel B) is returning to Australia as part of 10’s revamped Masked Singer panel.

She is joined by Chrissie Swan, Abbie Chatfield, and Dave Hughes, alongside host Osher Günsberg.

“Hello Australia. I have missed you so much but I am back and I can’t wait to get the party started with Hughesy, Abbie and Chrissie,” said Mel B.

“Let me tell you though, I am the best-ever game player and I have something up my sleeve that none of these guys have… I’ve hidden behind these masks as a competitor not once but twice. So I’m bringing all my secret inside knowledge to this. But more to the point, I’m bringing the fun. Fasten your seatbelts everyone, it’s going to be a rollercoaster ride.”

Chrissie Swan said: “I’m here to guess who is under the masks, I’m here to get them right and I mean business! And let’s face it, I couldn’t possibly be any worse than Hughesy at guessing them correctly!”

Abbie said: “I am thrilled to be joining the panel! I’m the first to say I can be competitive and I’m so ready to put my pop culture knowledge to the test and guess who is under the mask. Bring on the clues!”

Dave Hughes added: “How lucky am I to already have three amazing years with a brilliant cast. I look forward to another season of so much fun with a stellar new guessing group. They are going to look for me for guidance. God help them.”

Filming for Season 4 is set to begin at the end of the month for Warner Bros. Australia to screen in coming weeks.

  1. I have had to re-write this comment a few times because of my opinion about Abby. So all I will say is that I’m sad to know this will be the last season thank to her.

Obviously, Ten wanted to go for a younger audience which is why they have invited her on the show but I cannot see any good coming from this. I’ll reserve my judgement though, as someone attending a taping or two of the show, she might surprise me and be less superficial and controversial in person.

    1. She finished runner up in one of the seasons of the bachelor. From that she got heaps of fans, and such with being an ‘influencer’ on Instagram and having a popular podcast and all. From that she got to be on ‘im a celebrity, get me out of here’ and ended up winning through her exposure on that and also with the built up followers she had previously gained. Now she has a radio program and now also appearing on masked singer because of all the other stuff.

  2. You lost me at Abbie Chatfield. Sorry but won’t be watching for sure now. They lost a viewer and i’m sure i won’t be the only one. Hughesy was enough. Mel B is a great get though and Chrissie is pretty good too but thats not enough for me.

    1. Same here. Such a shame. I don’t mind Mel B or Chrissie, but there’s only so much that I can tolerate, and a family-oriented show should be cast appropriately. Chatfield is a silver-spooned attention seeker who thinks that her shallow worldview matters. I’ll admit that I have my reasons for despising Morrison, but shamelessly posting a “F*** You Morrison” video on her social media platform(s) is completely inappropriate and demonstrates a lack of maturity and class (and that’s just one example of many).

  3. Ugghh Abbie Chatfield is like Vegemite….you either love her or hate her. (I don’t like Vegemite)

She seems to have a lot of clickbait articles devoted to her almost daily on news corp though, so maybe people love to hate her?

  4. In my opinion, Hughesy is the best part of Masked Singer and perhaps the brightest star in the Channel Ten stable. Abbie is a bold move as she’s not exactly family friendly. Mel B is Mel B. Clearly somebody at Ten likes Chrissie, however she seems to be TV poison: most of her shows have tanked.

  5. I think Chrissie is a great addition. Good to have someone different. I was thinking her or Carrie would fit well.
Mel I think will be same as Lindsay.. hard when she probably won’t know many of the people under the mask, however, will probably know more than Lindsay.
Abbie.. I’m undecided on this one. However, do admit it’s nice to have some new(ish) talent on a judging panel.
Hughsey… the only one that should of gone that remains…

I would of liked to see someone like Tommy little or Joel Creasey on the panel. Maybe another year..
