Former Seven News Perth newsreader Yvette Mooney has died, aged 58.
Mooney battled cancer for 16 years, before her death on Saturday night surrounded by family.
“Our hearts are broken but our precious angel Vetti is at peace after a long battle with cancer,” her family said in a statement.
“Her grace and courage was an inspiration. Yvette’s beautiful heart, kindness, wisdom, that gorgeous smile enriched our lives.”
Mooney began with Seven News in 1984, becoming weekend news presenter. She started out as a reporter before moving on to present Today Tonight.
She also presented Perth at Five alongside Basil Zempilas, but left the industry after being diagnosed with cancer in 2008.
WA anchors Susannah Carr and Rick Ardon said, “She was a really good journalist and was a beautiful girl both inside and out.
“Beautiful to look at, beautiful voice but a really nice nature and lovely to be around.”

I remember Yvette being on our screens very well. My sympathies to her family. A tragic loss.
