10 open to Neighbours after-life… maybe….

Specials? Reunions? 10 keeps one foot in the door after historic finale.

10 executive vice president and chief content officer Beverley McGarvey said the network hasn’t given up on the possibility Neighbours might make a comeback, in some form, down the track….

The Herald Sun suggests that could mean one-off episodes focused on specific characters, or reunion specials.

“I also wouldn’t rule out that some day Fremantle will be able to create an environment where they can bring it back in some way. It’s happened to shows before,” she said.

“I still cling to the slim, optimistic hope that would be possible because there’s great appetite for content everywhere.”

Jason Herbison recently told TV Tonight: “Neighbours remains a beloved brand and the response from the viewers has only affirmed that. We’re open to all possibilities for the future, which is why we are considering the show rested. But for the immediate future … the cast will be free to move on to other projects.”

Last night the show bowed out at #1 at 873,000 metro viewers.

  1. I think us readers/ the public should demand and protest for Neighbours to be rightfully returned.
Neighbours had a strong fighting spirit and loyal fan base that can do something about this.

Maybe even an hour episode each week or twice a week?

Come on guys, let’s start petitioning and get other online media website involved.

  2. Reading this article brought to mind the running gag in the TV Show Community of Six Seasons and a Movie, except this would be 38 Seasons and a Movie.

  3. Well c’mon 10. You saved it from 7 all those years ago now save it from yourself.

Hopefully some other company or channel around the world can lend a hand too.

  4. So, Ten want Neighbours back, however they don’t want to pay for it, yet apparently there’s an appetite for the content?

It really seems like they’re in denial about playing any role in the demise of the show.

    1. Shame on Ten, they broadcast a show at 6:30pm weeknights for 36 years, and would have continued to do so it Freemantle kept making it. No other show on TV has been treated that badly. There is a big difference between a soap with 120k viewers, and a special with 900k, though they won’t be able to repeat that.
