Home & Away pays tribute to Neighbours
Plus a tribute from EastEnders; Kylie & Jason reflect on their reunion.

Well this is just lovely to see….
Home & Away has sent a congratulatory note to the Neighbours team on their 37 year conclusion.

This follows Ray Meagher recently telling TV Tonight, “It’s devastating. It’s really sad. It was a trailblazer in that genre. 5 episodes a week, sales to BBC were a first for a soap. They were hugely successful, not just here but all around the world. It’s a real travesty that its’s come to an end.
“We’ve got a few years to go before we catch up to them, assuming we do. Who knows in this day and age?”
Meanwhile EastEnders has also made its own tribute, via a cameo from Alan Fletcher.

I’d like to see Jason Herbison get a gig on Home and Away. So he could do what he did with neighbours, beautifully link their present with their past. I don’t think H&A acknowledged Cornelia Francis passing, after she had appeared on and off for 30 years. Whist on neighbours, they acknowledged Viviane Grey’s passing in the storylines, even though she hadn’t been in the show for 30 years. He could hire Rebecca Elmaloglou to return as Sophie Simpson and I’m not sure how they’d do it, (not sure if they had the same name) but Harley Bonner could turn out to be the son she had with Guy Pearce character David Fisher, in the early 90s. And ironically Terry Donovan would still be Harleys Grand dad. Hows that for a few neighbours refere

What lovely tributes. Such a great loss for the industry. But, I guess all good things must come to an end. Maybe the neighbours characters could pop up in Summer Bay for some cameo roles?? I’d watch that! 😉
I’m sure Home and Away will snap up some of the good looking, white, cis-gender actors at some stage…
Yeah I’m still hoping for a gay character to join the cast for a 3 year contract and ease seamlessly into the cast and even have a love interest.
Its interesting that Kylie talks fine there in the behind the scenes video but spoke so little on the actual episode. I wonder what the real reasoning was.
For whatever reason, Jason Herbison only wrote a few words for her to say. I can’t see him addressing this anytime soon, though, so we’ll probably never know why.
