Renewed: For All Mankind

It's a fourth season for the alternate space race.

US space drama For All Mankind has been renewed for a 4th season by Apple TV+.

The news was announced during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, featuring series stars Joel Kinnaman, Shantel VanSanten, Jodi Balfour, Sonya Walger, Krys Marshall, Cynthy Wu, Casey Johnson, Coral Peña, Wrenn Schmidt and Edi Gathegi, along with executive producers Ronald D. Moore, Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Maril Davis.

The series explores what could have happened if the global space race had never ended as NASA astronauts, engineers and their families find themselves in the center of an alternate history timeline — in which the USSR beats the US to the moon.

Season Three beagn in early June with a race to a new planetary frontier: Mars.

Production will begin on the new season next month.

  1. Season 3 of For All Mankind does offer a curious alternative look at Soviet, American politics, featuring a (first) female US President Waverly meeting Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev, who must be seeing his CGI self in this alternative universe with some amusement. Soviet Russia in 1994 receives a reasonable amount of kudos in this show which for anyone who has read about the Soviet era retrocomputing technology developed by Roscosmos during that time would know that a Russian trip to Mars would have been a one way trip for all concerned, Soviet Russia could not compete with the US as far as technology and their space race budget was concerned, but this show is science fiction and quite enjoyable too, especially the CGI and aerospace engineering design concepts shown. I think Apple TV+ probably should have waited until season 3 had concluded because there is some drama happening in the final episodes, but I am pleased there will be a fourth season of the show made.
