House of the Dragon biggest premiere for Foxtel group

Across Foxtel, Binge and more, the GoT prequel becomes a downright blockbuster.

The Foxtel Group has now released 7 day numbers for episode one of House of the Dragon which it cites as the biggest premiere for any show in  its history.

With multiple broadcasts, timeshifting, SVOD and several platforms it has amassed 1.235 million viewers.

This includes Live viewers last Monday across 3 screenings, On Demand viewing, repeat screenings, including Binge and Foxtel Go.

OzTAM premiere numbers were 115,000 in primetime viewers, another 85,000 in its debut screening and a further 66,000 in a third but that was just live Foxtel viewers. On Demand is where the heavy lifting is done in Drama.

Binge Executive Director, Alison Hurbert-Burns said: “With so much anticipation around the series, we knew House of the Dragon was going to be popular but we have been blown away by the response to the opening episode.

“The show has launched to strong critical acclaim from reviewers here and around the world and we are so thrilled that the series has reignited Game of Thrones fans, and brought in a new audience as viewers tune in to see what all the hype is about.

“We can’t wait to bring the remaining episodes to fans each Monday as the story of House Targaryen unfolds, and we are incredibly excited the series has been renewed for a second season.”

Episode 2 has dropped today, with the show getting an early renewal from HBO.

  1. David that picture creeps me out! During the 1980s I was scared of a jabberwocky from an Alice in Wonderland telle movie. Game of Thrones and Squid Game is too violent.

    1. If you’re comparing to the whole first season of GoT then I’d agree but that would be unfair. I feel this has started stronger over two episodes then GoT did.
