rage: Archie Roach tribute

ABC pays tribute to the man behind "Took the Children Away", "Down City Streets" and "Hold On Tight."

Tonight rage will pay tribute to Archie Roach, who passed away last Saturday, aged 66.

The Gunditjmara (Kirrae Whurrong/Djab Wurrung), Bundjalung Senior Elder has been one of this country’s preeminent performers, songwriters, and storytellers for over 30 years. His most enduring songs taught much of Australia hard truths about history, inequality and the need to care for country.

rage will play excerpts from his recent hosting on ABC, live performances from the archive, as well as all his music videos from the vault including those performed alongside his late life partner Ruby Hunter.

Family gave permission for his name and image to be used.

12am Saturday (Friday night) on ABC.

  1. Playlists now available on rage website. It’s great the weekly new releases show has made way for tribute to Archie. There’s an Indigenous theme this weekend as King Stingway are guest programmers. Not happy Jan seeing Tropical F— Storm being played during day-time.
