Karl not a contender for A Current Affair

Today show host has ruled himself out of the running as next primetime anchor.

Whoever is next host of A Current Affair will not be Karl Stefanovic.

The Today show host has ruled his name out of contention from speculative media reports.

Peter Ford this morning on 6PR revealed Stefanovic had indicated he was not interested in the primetime anchor role.

Tracy Grimshaw this week announced she would exit the role after 17 years in November.

That’s led to a flurry of “who next?” stories with names such as Leila McKinnon, Deb Knight, Sylvia Jeffreys, Sam Armytage, Brooke Boney, Georgie Gardner, Tracey Vo and more.

Nine hosts its Upfronts next week but there are no guarantees they will confirm Grimshaw’s successor.

Big shoes to fill, regardless.

Who should be next host on A Current Affair?

  1. I’d love to see Corey Worthington and his yellow sunglasses host A Current Affair! But, in all seriousness, I do believe Deb Knight will (and probably should) get the job…

  2. This would seem to make sense. Today is the most competitive this year than it’s been since Lisa Wilkinson left. You wouldn’t want to upset the current hosting arrangements while it’s gaining some ground.

    1. There are 3 things wrong with that list, armytage is with channel 7, Harris is with 10, Doyle is with 7 so how can they possibly host this ? My bet is with either McKinnon or knight

  3. Karl seems like the logical way forward after 18 years at Today. Today needs to make that generational change soon. Now I’ve seen the poll posted. Sarah Harris would be my next pic but I’m sure Ten realises the star it has in Sarah so they’ll have her locked in and will pay to keep her.
