SBS unveils FIFA World Cup 2022 commentary team

SBS will broadcast all 64 matches played in Qatar, Live from late November.

SBS today confirmed its commentary team for the FIFA World Cup 2022, beginning on November 21 in Qatar.

SBS will broadcast all 64 matches Live at SBS and SBS On Demand. Seven matches in the group stage will kick off during prime time at 9pm (AEDT) and 20 matches at 6am (AEDT).

International ‘voice of football’, Martin Tyler, will join Richard Bayliss and Niav Owens with the latter two to host every live match from SBS’s Sydney studios.

Ex-Socceroos goalkeeper and Premier League champion, Mark Bosnich, and former Socceroos captain and SBS presenter Craig Foster will share analysis and insights. Former Matilda and Head of Women’s Football at Football Australia, Sarah Walsh, will also be a guest analyst in studio while David Basheer and Matt Connellan are pitch-side.

Basheer will also call the Socceroos matches, with Martin Tyler on key matches including the opening match and the final.

SBS’s coverage will begin with the Opening Ceremony followed by the first match between Qatar and Ecuador on November 21, while Australia’s first match is against France with coverage starting from 5am (AEDT) on November 23 on both SBS and SBS On Demand.
