Seven secures Logie Awards

TV Week Logies to screen on Seven for the first time since 1995.

The Seven Network has secured the TV Week Logie Awards for a period of five years.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford announced the news this morning on Sunrise.

2023 will mark the first time Seven has been host broadcaster -and first time Nine has not- since 1995.

A location has not been confirmed for the event, confirmed for June 18. The Queensland government has been underwriter for the recent Gold Coast event, including with $1000 per head for each talent ferried to the state by networks.

Seven West Media Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, James Warburton, said: “The TV Week Logie Awards are more than television’s night of nights; they are a treasured Australian institution and a celebration of Australia’s love of television.

“We are honoured to be partnering with Are Media to bring the Logies to Australia on Channel 7 and 7plus. It’s early days but we have big, exciting plans for the awards in 2023 and beyond.”

Are Media Chief Executive Officer, Jane Huxley, said: “The TV Week Logie Awards has become the most anticipated event of the year for the television industry as we celebrate the most popular stars and shows on our screens. We are delighted to continue our long-standing association with the awards and equally pleased to welcome the Seven Network as the Logies’ Official Broadcast Partner.”

  1. Maybe there will be an increase in 7 produced local content, so they can will the prize on their telecast?? Any local content increase can’t be a bad thing…

  2. Does it really matter what network hosts it?? As the format can’t really change, I don’t think there can be very much value add to the broadcast. The only real change will be who the hosts are. So immediately Sonia, Manu or heaven forbid Kochie come to mind…

  3. It’s good that this has been confirmed. We needed a change towards the Logies.

But it was interesting that it was announced on Sunrise, where they’d hadn’t given a toot towards the Logies in recent years.
