  1. I’m of the generation that had ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ in his Yr 12 English texts. The 1979 film version of this story is indelibly branded into my skull. I’m actually really looking forward to seeing this remake. Maybe not tonight, but certainly over this 4-day weekend.

  2. Both the original early 30s US made film and the late 70s Euro production have been seen on TV here in recent years-the Euro one comes on regularly on SBS Movies.

  3. I have been looking forward to this show. This classic WWI war story title has been filmed a few times before but all are products of the era when they were made. The German film and TV industry are usually good at exploring the dark side of humanity as seen in the excellent Babylon Berlin series ( which I hope will return ) which explored the nascent rise of the Nazis, so I would expect a suitably dark and somewhat emotionally challenging anti-war message in Netflix’s ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’. With a real hot war happening in Europe right now the audience rating for this show will be interesting, especially in Europe.
