Is The Block more about the journey or the destination?

After viewers reacted to that auction, Nine maintains a lot of the joy is in the series arc rather than the outcome.

Nine is yet to reveal how it will address recent concerns about The Block finale.

Viewers took to social media to vent their frustration with the auction after the show constructed its ‘biggest Block ever.’

Nine Programming Director Hamish Turner told TV Tonight, “I think we have to acknowledge the fact that we’ve had about five or six interest rate rises this year, between when the show went into production and the auction.

“We’ve seen a very challenged market across the board. So I think there’s some environmental reasons why we saw the result we saw.

Interest rates or not, this year was not the only one in which the auction was dominated by wealthy philanthropists and advocates for multi-millionaires.

The audience clearly reacted to the outcome in which homes were sold for over $5m or were pulled from the auction altogether.

“Yeah, it’s a valid point. We obviously always listen to the audience and try and look to ways in which we can can remedy that,” he continued.

“But I think the journey sometimes is a lot of where the joy comes from, as well.”

Season 19 is to be located back in Hampton, south-east of Melbourne where Charming St. is currently undergoing early preparations for contestants in 2023.

  1. It wasn’t the interest rate rises, that harmed last season. It was the producers believing the hype. Scotty has to get over his obsession with size; bigger is not always better. The Block this year was wrong on so many levels. The blocks were all 10 acres, but the houses were right next to each other. Why would anyone pay for a 10 acre block to have to deal with neighbour noise. The contestants were always freezing and walking around in the rain and mud. Why would anyone want to spend millions to leave in that climate?

The Block works when the homes are aspirational; not astronomically out of reach.$250 000 kitchen appliance prize anyone???
