Oops. No audio as technical errors plague Today show

"Even though we look quite calm there are a lot of people behind the scenes at Nine who have been very frantic, trying to get us back on air"

The Today show suffered a broadcasting calamity this morning when its audio fell silent -leading to a congaline of ads, restarts and even 9Honey broadcast in its place.

David Campbell and Amelia Adams were hosting this morning when the audio fell off a cliff at 7:34am.

Nine began playing commercials as it scrambled behind the scenes, returning to hosts and Brooke Boney, without success.

Advertisements then played non-stop for over 13 minutes -still without any luck- then to more ads and a 9Honey video.

Finally the hosts returned.

Adams: Hi, just checking you can hear us are you there? Because we are here.
Campbell: We are.
Adams: We have been here this whole time.
Campbell: They tried to cancel us but we would not be cancelled!
Adams: Karl and Ally.
Campbell: Sabotage. Nice try, active sabotage.
Adams: We are here doing you guy as favour and then you pulled the plug on us.
Campbell: We did have some technical issues.
Adams: So much so that we went to Nine Honey.
Campbell: We have done most of the ads.
Adams: We really have tried all forms of – we did a bit of interpretive dance.
Campbell: That was very special. All I did was click on a link. That happened, so don’t do that is what we are trying to say. We are going to try to persevere with this. Even though we look quite calm there are a lot of people behind the scenes at Nine who have been very frantic, trying to get us back on air so we want to thank them for their diligence getting us back on air.

A Nine spokesperson told TV Tonight, “We had an engineering issue at our North Sydney studios which has now been resolved.”

  1. In My opinion, David should never fill in to anchor Today. He is a song and dance man who happens to host a light, mid-morning chat show which he is terrific at. However, he lacks the depth of knowledge and journalistic background to anchor a news program.
