One member of the Abo family was not quite enough yesterday, when Today broadcast live in Sarah Abo's hometown.

Yesterday TV Tonight paid a visit to the Today show at the Australian Open.

Also dropping by to visit new co-host Sarah Abo were her Melbourne family, dad Fouad and lookalike sister ‘Shazza’, a physiotherapist 4 years her junior. Another sister, Lisa, is a pediatrician who specialises in infectious diseases.

“I’ve got a very smart family and I refer to myself as the dud of the family!” Sarah Abo joked.

During the show, ‘Shazza’ even jumped into her sister’s seat, unannounced, to throw to the break.

“She was just there, then after the break I think the viewers noticed.”

Abo, having shifted from 60 Minutes, is already taking to the changes with ease, whether as a lighter news genre or as a live Outside Broadcast.

“You’re kind of in the elements, a little bit. Lauren, one of our producers was saying today had probably the most changes she’s ever seen, but it felt seamless on the desk. I hope going to air it looked seamless. It didn’t feel like there were many changes. But from what I understand behind the scenes, there was a lot going on,” she continued.

60 is predominantly more serious and you are dealing with more intense kinds of stories. Breakfast television, I guess, is a gear shift. But it’s changing all the time. Each ad break is different. Sometimes it will be serious. Sometimes there will be laughter. It helps when my co hosts are pretty funny, so they’re genuine laughs.”
