Make your choice Australia.
Three reality juggernauts are now confirmed to all premiere on the same day: Monday January 30.
Married at First Sight on Nine, Australian Idol on Seven and Australian Survivor: Heroes v Villains carry the weight of Quarter One ratings for their respective networks.
What’s yet to be confirmed are the times for Seven and 10 shows, with Nine confirming a 7:30 start for MAFS.
MAFS and Australian Survivor are both produced by Endemol Shine Australia while Fremantle produces Australian Idol.

Will definitely be watching Survivor Australia I might check out Australian Idol but i think it’s quite ageist the age limit for contestants and I think MAFS is trash
I’d rather watch the same episode of Aussie Survivor three times than MAFS, Idol and Survivor once.
Not a problem for me….no interest in any of them….iview or SBS on demand for me……
I’m with you Maev. You show great taste.
Vile Kyle is enough to make me want to throw a brick through any television within a 20km radius of me
7:30 & Back Roads for me
Survivor definitely because I have no interest in Australian Idol and I think MAFS is rubbish.
The promos for MAFS and Idol put me off so it’ll be Survivor for sure. Being a huge fan of the US version. Can’t wait!
I think Survivor will come out third best by a long shot (and I say that as a Survivor fan but one with a questionable feeling on the state if Aus franchise.)
I don’t know if they can capture new viewers with “look, it’s heroes/villains and there’s notable players from past seasons of the show and look at these new people with mo personality and an outlandish job”. What are the regular non-Survivor fans relating to in the promo.
They need to go back to basics – all new player cast, characters are big yet mostly relatable personalities that are eager to play and win – and stop with the gimmicks.
Absolutely agree with you. Many of my friends are glad Survivor has returning players because it frees them up to watch something else. We want all fresh contestants.
This is happening more and more as networks get nervous and think having familiar faces will help guarantee an audience. The Challenge proves that’s not always the case.
I’ll be washing my hair, cleaning my teeth and sharpening my tongue on that night for sure 😂
My prediction it will be MAFS 1st Idol 2nd and survivor 3rd the frequency of promos for both MAFS and Idol are ridiculous
MAFS feels stale but getting a loyal audience to switch to something different or new seems to be harder than ever in the streaming/spoilt for choice era.
The promos for Australian Idol just don’t scream “must see TV” for me. And it’s a tad confusing- seeing the judges visit the homes of contestants and claim to have discovered them. Then in some promos, the contestants are auditioning for the judges in a common location.
MAFS meanwhile looks like it has another interesting cast which Nine have emphasised heavily in promos. That could maintain the interest of the large loyal audience already affectionate with MAFS.
Survivor will do well by Ten standards but I don’t expect it to emerge the overall winner in total viewers or demos. Largely because of Ten’s early evening problems and utter failure that was the final quarter of 2022. Ten have no momentum.
Agreed with Aus Idols promos. Pretty dull. I’ve seen more exciting ones for Home & Away
Survivor and idol for the win. They always clash shows, nothing new. Just record them or watch on catch up tv.
You’ll be watching Idol? Didn’t the promos put you off? What about the judges?! Kyle has no business being a judge.
I’m wishing that both Australian Idol on Seven and Survivor on Ten put a colossal dent into that steaming pile of harangue known as Married at First Sight. I could be incorrect, but I have a feeling Seven decided to bring Home and Away back three weeks prior to put Australian Idol at 7:00 for its first outing. If I were Angus Ross and Brook Hall, I would seriously contemplate doing just that.
The biggest issue with starting at 7pm, is the show will be over at 8:30pm, and with not much compelling content in that slot, people will switch to MAFS or Survivor.
I’m taking a pass on all three. Looks like my streaming services will get a good workout.
